2015 Entertainment Trends for #Summer in #Savannah A La Carte! Savannah Insiders from Romantic Inns of Savannah Share Early Summer Trip Tips.

SAVANNAH GA -- Instead of hot, Romantic Inns believe that summer vacations in Savannah, Georgia, will take on a new trend-setting mantra for summer vacations 2015 -- #HotSpot. Whether relaxing or exploring, whether the first trip of the fifth trip, Savannah vacation travel this summer embraces leisure that is NOT at all boring for those who visit America's most beautiful city!
Savannah is a southern getaway spot named on USA Today's "Top Tourist Destinations in the South"
If we use only this one article's highlights -- "distinct culture of music, cuisine, and easy-going people", plus the art -- you'll discover it's a spot where you'll satisfy craving for a semi-tropical summer getaway!

Southern accents and patriotic flags add to Savannah's scenic natural landscapes, dressed in ancient trees and year around colorful flower gardens. Light-weight cotton apparel, comfortable walking shoes, bottled water, a bathing suit, sunscreen, a camera, and a smartphone. Those are the highlights for your what-to-pack list.

Let's mix up the pairings! See if these happenings (and more on our Savannah EVENT Calendar) might whet your appetite for a southern summer vacation trip to Savannah.

MUSIC + CUISINE

With the addition of new restaurants and adventurous menus, food is rapidly climbing to the top of the southern destination's entertainment.

Stopover in the Yard is what happens when one mixes a unique outdoor dining experience at the The Grey, serving "elevated outdoor picnic food", says Savannah Stopover’s Kayne Lanahan in a SavannahNow interview, with live music and a lively bar.  On Saturday, July 11, the musical talent is Thomas Wynn & The Believers.

On July 22 American Idol auditions are happening in Savannah at the Savannah Civic Center. Just around the corner, stop in for nostalgic hearty eats at Crystal Beer Parlor, once a Prohibition-era speakeasy.  July 30 Natasha Drenan presents "You Made Me Love You," a Judy Garland Tribute, Lucas Theatre. Make early reservations at Olde Pink House, just across Reynolds Square. Or drop into Leopold's Ice Cream (right around the corner) for post-event dessert.

Sunday Jazz Brunch (11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.), features Jeremy Davis Equinox Trio at the AquaStar Restaurant on Hutchison Island. Scattered buffet and the light jazz make for a delightful "Sunday in Savannah".  Savannah River Sessions (every 3rd Monday night) with the 18-piece Fabulous Equinox Orchestra returns to AquaStar on July 15, 2015 -- cocktails, dinner, and show. The star-studded AquaCurean gourmet seafood event happens with guest chefs August 28-30, 2015.

Through August, on select nights catch the popular gypsy jazz of Velvet Caravan at Casimir's Lounge at 700 Drayton restaurant.

Wednesday through Sunday enjoy lively musical productions at the historic Savannah Theatre on Chippewa Square. Restaurants nearby are Soho South Cafe (including Sunday brunch), and The Collins Quarter (coffee, pastries and lunch, plus Sunday brunch).

On August 6, Piaf and Paris"Natasha Drena and Jane Ogle sing some of Edith Piaf’s greatest love songs on the Lucas Theatre stage. August 2-16, 2015, is the Savannah Voice Festival (opera), at the Lucas Theatre. The VOICExperience is  part of the Sherrill Milnes VOICE Programs, bringing opera, musical theatre and song interpreted by over 50 classically-trained emerging artists. Make early supper reservations at nearby Olde Pink House or Alligator Soul, an easy way to the Lucas.

ART + EASY-GOING PEOPLE

Art galleries dot the National Landmark Historic District, with the delightful and talented artists sometimes in gallery. Catch the Summer Film Series at SCAD Museum of Art -- July 23, Frieda, and Basquiat on August 13.

Discover the Savannah's approachable art scene found in modern to classic architecture. Drop into the cool of three Telfair Museums to take in the art of Winston Churchill (through July 26), "Life’s a Beach: Photographs by Martin Parr" (through August 30), "Come As You Art: Art from the 1990" (through September 20, 2015), and much more in featured and ongoing exhibitions.  Pause for lunch in the Jepson Center Cafe, featuring fresh, local and seasonable fare.

Overlooked too often is the art in City Hall. Check for reservations to "First Tuesday Tours of City Hall" and "Art in the Rotunda" through this City Hall link.  We received a text announcing the new featured exhibit opening in July 2015 in City Hall is bridges.

Socialize, take part in an up close and personal orientation to new and established artists and galleries on a stroll through downtown Savannah. #SavannahArtWalk takes place every second Saturday -- September 12, 2015 - June 11, 2016.
